Is it time to start meal prepping?

My answer: maybe.

It's a great tool but it's not for everyone.

Here's why it's a great thing to do:

  • relieves stress around mealtime about what to make (and this can be whatever meal you choose breakfast, lunch or dinner)
  • keeps healthy snacks on the ready to grab and eat (takes away the desperate grazing when over hungry)
  • reduces food waste
  • saves money due to planful purchasing
  • it SAVES time because you are doing it in one session and the outcome lasts for multiple days. Investing the time, saves you time.

Here's why it's not for everyone:

  • requires a block of time to do bulk cooking or ingredient prep
  • takes some planning and thinking ahead about what you want to make
  • if you are a totally spontaneous, fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants person you may find the organization and bulk prep time stifling

Whether you are trying to lose weight, gain weight, have healthier choices ready or spend less time on the fly in the kitchen (especially if you have a family that eats at different times and needs help in the kitchen) it really can save time saver over a week.

There is some upfront time required but then you can enjoy your efforts and planning throughout the week.

Happy prepping!
